On Tuesday, March 26th 2024, the Guide Michelin for Germany was released during a ceremony in Hamburg and despite the fact that many fine dining restaurants in Germany are facing an unprecented, existential crisis, with dwindling guest numbers and rising costs being the mayor ones, the Michelin Guide awarded 340 stars to German restaurants this year - a record number. Of all the stars, however, only one new star was awarded to a Berlin restaurant.
As every year, Berlin had several contenders in line reaching for a new star or another star. The notorious Michelin star contender Lode & Stijn effectively pulled out of the race with its closing this year, and so did Mrs. Robinson's. But the one contender who stayed in the race actually managed to (finally) score their first star today: Hallmann & Klee in Neukölln, a BFS favorite and one most beloved restaurants on the BFS Discord. After years and years of tremendously hard work, Sarah Hallmann and her team have been awarded with one star and I feel like this might just be THE most deserved Michelin star in Berlin history. After Ernst of course, who (of course) didn't get their second star and therefore look like they will be closing the restaurant with one star only.
There were no other changes for the stars in Berlin, all the three star and two star restaurants kept their stars, with the closing of Cordo & the NoName Berlin loses two of its former star restaurants.
