Tacos El Rey

Tacos El Rey is the Gräfekiez offshoot from the team behind Taqueria El Oso, bringing a more expansive, late-night-ready take on Mexico City-style tacos to Graefestraße. The restaurant has established itself as one of Berlin’s defining taco addresses through its commitment to making each taco à la minute: tortillas are pressed fresh from house-made corn masa for every order, a level of care and craftsmanship still rare in the city. The generously sized tacos arrive individually and move from ribeye and rich birria to vegan options such as mushroom crema, all built around bold fillings, fresh herbs, and properly punchy salsas. Because corn masa is used throughout the core taco production rather than wheat flour, the menu is also entirely gluten-free, making El Rey a particularly strong option for coeliac diners as well as anyone simply after exceptional tacos. The drinks are equally central to the experience, particularly the house-made horchata and micheladas made with the restaurant’s custom-brewed Mexican-style lager, alongside a lively list of cocktails with a Mexican twist. El Rey is one of Berlin’s hottest restaurants, so expect a queue at peak times: it is walk-in only and does not take reservations
