After more than six years serving fiery bowls in Kreuzberg, Chungking Noodles has announced it will close its doors at the end of April.
The restaurant was founded by Ash Lee, who first built a following through pop-ups and street food events before opening the small restaurant on Reichenberger Straße in 2019. Her take on Chongqing-style xiao mian—wheat noodles with chili oil, Sichuan pepper and toppings like pork, beef or tofu—quickly developed a loyal fanbase among Berlin food lovers.
Before launching the restaurant, Lee hosted Chinese supperclubs in Berlin and later began serving her spicy noodle bowls at food markets and pop-ups, where they frequently sold out within hours.
In a recent Instagram post, the team reflected on the past years as intense but formative, thanking the community that supported the project from its early pop-up days to the Kreuzberg restaurant.
Chungking Noodles will continue operating until the end of April, and the team is currently looking for someone to take over the space. Until then, there’s still time for one last bowl.
