Kalaja
Kalaja is an Albanian bakery and Balkan restaurant in Neukölln that works both as a neighbourhood pickup spot and a proper sit-down address. Up front, there are ready-to-bake goods, cakes and pastries; beyond that, a full meal is very much part of the equation. The menu reaches into Balkan comfort food, with čevapčići and flaky fresh burek being made to order. It is the kind of hybrid place Berlin does well: one stop for sweets, savoury staples and the possibility to leave with dinner for later.
